Passover Meal 2023
Passover (or Pesach in Hebrew) is one of the most important festivals in the Jewish year. It is a Spring festival held this year on 5th April, the first month of the Jewish calendar and comprises of two meals.
The religious element comprises of Passover (or Seder) meal being celebrated after nightfall and consists of cups of vegetables dipped in wine and saltwater, flat dry cracker like bread called matzah, a hard boiled egg called Beitzah, bitter herbs called Maror or Chazeret and Charoset, a sweet paste containing chopped fruit and nuts. All these items are shared and prayers are said.
After this people usually partake in more usual buffet type foods which they bring and share with each other.
